Ruffed grouse need young forests to thrive, a type of habitat that is increasingly rare in Kentucky. Wildlife need quality habitat to prosper. Bald eagle numbers may now be more widespread in Kentucky than in pioneer times because of the many large reservoirs constructed since World War II. The reservoirs produce a good supply of fish for bald eagles to eat.
