The Kentucky Department of Transportation has finally lifted their moratorium of new specialty plates. Finally we will be able to begin production on the Kentucky Smallmouth License plate (Attached). This has been an exhausting process and we are excited to see the David L. Hayes “World Record Smallmouth” plate on the back of Kentucky vehicles. Plate production should begin later this year and be available around December 2014.

Kentucky Smalljaw members can receive their first year free ($25 value) just by sending in their name and mailing address. This offer is limited to the first 300 names and addresses that are sent to Chad Miles at chad.miles@ky.gov.

The new license plate commemorates David L. Hayes’ world record smallmouth bass caught in Kentucky from Dale Hollow Lake in 1955,” said Chad Miles, director of the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Foundation. “The proceeds from the sale of this plate support conservation education efforts in Kentucky
